1.
I waited for the Lord my God, And patiently did bear: At length to me He did incline My voice and cry to hear. And took me from a fearful pit, And from the miry clay, And on a rock He set my feet, Establishing my way. He put a new song in my mouth, Our God to magnify: Many shall see it, and shall fear, And on the Lord rely. O blessèd is the man whose trust Upon the Lord relies; Respecting not the proud, nor such As turn aside to lies. O Lord my God, full many are the wonders thou hast done; Thy gracious thoughts to us-ward far above all thoughts are gone: In order none can reckon them to thee: if them declare, And speak of them I would, they more than can be numbered are.
2.
God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform. He plants his footsteps in the sea And rides upon the storm. Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take; The clouds you so much dread Are big with mercy and shall break In blessings on your head. Creature, trust Him though the path you’re on, Leads through a veil of darkness. Soon the Glory, promised just beyond, will burst forth And you’ll bear witness. His purposes will ripen fast, Unfolding ev'ry hour. The bud may have a bitter taste, But sweet will be the flow'r. Blind unbelief is sure to err And scan his work in vain. God is his own interpreter, And he will make it plain. Creature, trust Him though the path you’re on, Leads through a veil of darkness. Soon the Glory, promised just beyond, will burst forth And you’ll bear witness. Though the Narrow Gate seems far, the night seems long, And your past is fraught and checkered, Oh the way, the gate, your life, indeed your song, Is Christ, Your Lord and Shepherd
3.
It may be at morn, when the day is awaking, When sunlight through darkness and shadow is breaking, That Jesus will come in the fullness of glory, To receive from the world "His own." O Lord Jesus, how long, how long Ere we shout the glad song, Christ returneth! Hallelujah! hallelujah! Amen, Hallelujah! Amen. It may be at midday, it may be at twilight, It may be, perchance, that the blackness of midnight Will burst into light in the blaze of His glory, When Jesus receives "His own." O Lord Jesus, how long, how long Ere we shout the glad song, Christ returneth! Hallelujah! hallelujah! Amen, Hallelujah! Amen. Oh, joy! oh, delight! should we go without dying, No sickness, no sadness, no dread and no crying, Caught up through the clouds with our Lord into glory, When Jesus receives "His own." O Lord Jesus, how long, how long Ere we shout the glad song, Christ returneth! Hallelujah! hallelujah! Amen, Hallelujah! Amen.
4.
Guide me, O my great Redeemer, pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but you are mighty; hold me with your powerful hand. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me now and evermore, feed me now and evermore. Open now the crystal fountain, where the healing waters flow. Let the fire and cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through. Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer, ever be my strength and shield, ever be my strength and shield. When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside. Death of death, and hell's Destruction, land me safe on Canaan's side. Songs of praises, songs of praises I will ever sing to you, I will ever sing to you.
5.
Deck thyself, my soul, with gladness, leave the gloomy haunts of sadness; come into the daylight's splendour, there with joy thy praises render unto him whose grace unbounded hath this wondrous banquet founded: high o'er all the heavens he reigneth, yet to dwell with thee he deigneth. Now I sink before thee lowly, filled with joy most deep and holy, as with trembling awe and wonder on thy mighty works I ponder: how, by mystery surrounded, depth no mortal ever sounded, none may dare to pierce unbidden secrets that with thee are hidden. Sun, who all my life dost brighten, light, who dost my soul enlighten, joy, the sweetest heart e'er knoweth, fount, whence all my being floweth, at thy feet I cry, my Maker, let me be a fit partaker of this blessed food from heaven, for our good, thy glory, given. Jesus, Bread of Life, I pray thee, let me gladly here obey thee; never to my hurt invited, be thy love with love requited: from this banquet let me measure, Lord, how vast and deep its treasure; through the gifts thou here dost give me, as thy guest in heaven receive me.
6.
O Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee. I give thee back the life I owe, that in thine ocean depths its flow may richer, fuller be. O Light that follows all my way, I yield my flick’ring torch to thee. My heart restores its borrowed ray, that in thy sunshine’s blaze its day may brighter, fairer be. O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee. I trace the rainbow through the rain, and feel the promise is not in vain, that morn shall tearless be. O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee. I lay in dust, life’s glory dead, and from the ground there blossoms red, life that shall endless be.
7.
All people that on earth do dwell, sing to the Lord with cheerful voice. Him serve with fear, His praise forth tell, Come ye before Him and rejoice! Know that the Lord is God indeed; Without our aide He did us make. We are the flock, He doth us feed, And for His sheep He doth us take. O enter then his gates with praise, Approach with joy His courts unto; Praise, Laud, and bless His name always, For it is seemly so to do. For why? the Lord our God is good, His mercy is forever sure. His truth at all times firmly stood And shall from age to age endure.
8.
I know not why God’s wondrous grace to me is daily shown, nor why, with mercy, Christ in love redeemed me for his own. Refrain:-------------------------------- But “I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I’ve committed unto him against that day.” I know not how this saving faith to me he did impart, nor how believing in his word wrought peace within my heart. [Refrain] I know not how the Spirit moves, convincing us of sin, revealing Jesus through the Word, creating faith in him. [Refrain] I know not when my Lord may come, at night or noon-day fair, nor if I’ll walk the vale with him, or meet him in the air. [Refrain]
9.
O Christ, what burdens bowed Thy head! Our load was laid on Thee; Thou stoodest in the sinner’s stead, Didst bear all ill for me; A Victim led, Thy blood was shed, Now there’s no load for me. The curse of death was in our cup: The cup was full for Thee; But Thou hast drained the last dark drop, And emptied it for me. That bitter cup, love drank it up; There is no curse for me. Jehovah raised the rod to smite; The blow returned on Thee; Upon Thy form did it alight, And passed away from me; Thy soul so white did wrath affright, There is no wrath for me. The tempest’s awful voice was heard, Its thunders broke on Thee! Thy open bosom was my ward, And it protected me; Thy body scarred, Thy visage marred, There is no storm for me. For us, Lord Jesus, Thou hast died, That we might die in Thee; But Thou art raised and glorified, And livest now in me; Hell’s host defied! heav’n open wide! There is no death for me.
10.
He who would valiant be 'gainst all disaster, let him in constancy follow the Master. There's no discouragement shall make him once relent his first avowed intent to be a pilgrim. Who so beset him round with dismal stories, do but themselves confound— his strength the more is. No foes shall stay his might, though he with giants fight; he will make good his right to be a pilgrim. Since, Lord, Thou dost defend us with Thy Spirit, we know we at the end shall life inherit. Then, fancies, flee away! I'll fear not what men say, I'll labor night and day to be a pilgrim.
11.
I have found a friend in Jesus- He's ev'rything to me, He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul; The Lily of the Valley- in Him alone I see All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole. In sorrow He's my comfort, in trouble He's my stay, He tells me ev'ry care on Him to roll; He's the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, He's the greatest of ten thousand to my soul. He all my grief has taken and all my sorrows borne, In temptation He's my strong and mighty tow'r; I have all for Him forsaken and all my idols torn From my heart, and now He keeps me by His pow'r. Though all the world forsake me and Satan tempt me sore, Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal; He's the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, He's the greatest of ten thousand to my soul. He will never, never leave me nor yet forsake me here, While I live by faith and do His blessed will; A wall of fire about me, I've nothing now to fear- With His manna He my hungry soul shall fill. Then sweeping up to glory I'll see His blessed face, Where rivers of delight shall ever roll; He's the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, He's the greatest of ten thousand to my soul.
12.
My faith looks up to thee, thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine. Now hear me while I pray; take all my guilt away; O let me from this day be wholly thine! May thy rich grace impart strength to my fainting heart; my zeal inspire! As thou hast died for me, oh, may my love to thee pure, warm, and changeless be, a living fire! While life's dark maze I tread, and griefs around me spread, be thou my guide. Bid darkness turn to day, wipe sorrow's tears away, nor let me ever stray from thee aside. When ends life's transient dream, when death's cold, sullen stream shall o'er me roll, blest Savior, then, in love, fear and distrust remove; O bear me safe above, a ransomed soul!

about

Navy Jones Adelaide, Australia

Hi I'm Navy,

I'm making new indie-folk versions of old Hymns. I'm also making story driven tunes that point to Christ, glorify His Name, and encourage others.

I love the Lord, and have a wonderful wife, 4 children.

My hope is that we may all know more and more, the Love of our Father in Heaven and His son, Jesus. That we might seek Him not for reward, but simply because He is wonderful!
